Increasing Selectivity and Sensitivity in Ion Mobility Spectrometry Using Ion Beam Modulation

Abstract

CONCLUSIONS: (1) Wavelets can help improve S/N; (2) Wavelets can be used to decompose signal for further analysis; (3) Ion beam modulation improves selectivity and sensitivity; (4) Neural networks can be used to detect modulated ion beam data. FUTURE WORK: (1) Investigate modulation schemes; (2) Determine algorithm robustness; (3) Decrease IBM scan time; (4) Decrease IBM data acquisition rate; (5) Expand training sets; (6) Look at other metrics (cell temperature, humidity).
