Requirements Report Computer Software System for a Semi-Automatic Pipe Handling System and Fabrication Facility

Abstract

Avondale Shipyards, Inc., has entered into a detailed study to design a cost-effective and semi-automatic method of fabricating pipe which will reduce the labor, material handling, storage space and required fabrication area. This report is to present the requirements of the computer software that must be developed to create Pipe Detail Drawings and to support the processing of the Pipe Detail Drawings through the Pipe Shop. These requirements are separated into two major categories, COMPUTER AIDED DRAWINGS SYSTEM and PIPE HANDLING AND FABRICATION SYSTEM. Section II of this report describes the application in terms of work flow and functions to be performed. Section III describes the significant information that is required. Section IV identifies the significant design constraints that must be considered during the design of the system.
