Abstract

Solid parahydrogen features: 1)Weak intermolecular interactions; 2) Slow relaxation timescales; 3) Quantum crystal; self-annealing via tunneling; 4) Homogeneous environment; 5) Large intermolecular distance, 3.78 Parahydrogen as a matrix: 1) Very small matrix shifts, predictable (-0.5 %); 2) Nearly free rotation for small molecules; 3) High impurity mobility; 4) Narrow spectral linewidths (<100 MHz possible); 5) Dopants induce infrared activity in matrix.
