Labor Standards Application Program, Phase IV - FY-83, Electrical Trade Area
Abstract
This Report describes the participation of Peterson Builders, Inc. in the Maritime Administration (MarAd) National Shipbuilding Research Program for FY-83 to implement labor standards during ship construction towards controlling production costs in the electrical trade area for both shop work and installation work aboard ship. The overall objective of this Research Program is to reduce the cost of building ships. The objective of this specific project in the electrical trade area was to improve planning, scheduling, production control, and worker productivity through the application of labor standards, and thereby reduce the cost of electrical work in the shop as well as electrical installation work aboard ship. The goal of PBI has been, and continues to be, the construction of quality ships in less time, at FY-83 program for implementing trade area was recognized as a toward achieving this goal, program objective described supports PBI involvement in less cost, and on schedule.
