Course Curriculum Development for the Future Cyberwarrior

Abstract

On 7 December 2005, the Secretary of the Air Force (SECAF) changed the Air Force's mission statement to include operations in Cyberspace. The implication of this change is that the Air Force will need to educate, train, and equip its forces to operate on this new battlefront. To this effect, IDE cyber warfare officers will need to understand the processes, technology, and legal ramifications of operating in this new realm. The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) is in a unique position to modify and develop new curricula to support the SECAF's strategic vision. Because of its warfighting focus, AFIT can provide courses that optimally prepare future cyber warriors. This Graduate Research Project will focus on the demographics and types of courses needed to make a well rounded "cyber trooper."
