Abstract

This report describes how two U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) organizations integrated the use of the Software Engineering Institute's (SEI) Team Software Process (trademark) methodology and the Capability Maturity Modeling (trademark) framework to progress from Maturity Level 1 to Maturity Level 4 in 30 months. This is less than half of the average time it has taken other organizations to accomplish the same maturity level progression. This case study describes the process improvement efforts of both NAVAIR divisions and how they integrated the two SEI technologies to accelerate process improvement within their organizations. Finally, the report presents the key factors that allowed NAVAIR to achieve these rapid results,
