Development and Construction of a Camera System for Landmine Detection

Abstract

The project `Development and Construction of a camera system for landmine detection' aimed at the development of a camera system to aid in mechanical mine clearance and area reduction. This report describes the results of the last phase of this project. A demonstrator polarisation camera system for landmine detection has been built. Demonstrations of the system have been given at a Royal Netherlands Army test site, with the system mounted on a moving vehicle. In these demonstrations recordings have been made of surface laid mines. The enhanced polarisation contrast has been shown in real time. In off-line processing the mines have been detected automatically.
