Human Dimensions of Strategic Leadership: A Selected Bibliography

Abstract

"Human Dimensions of Strategic Leadership" is one of the enduring themes of the U.S. Army War College (USAWC) curriculum. This selected bibliography lists references for readings on various elements of that theme, and directly relates to the study of strategic leadership. Particular attention was devoted to military leadership. With the exception of some important older titles, most of the books, documents, articles, and online resources cited are dated 2003 to the present. All items in this bibliography are available in the USAWC Library. For users' convenience, at the end of the entries, the authors have added library call numbers, Internet addresses, or database links. Web sites were accessed during November 2006. The bibliography is divided into the following sections: General Overview; Critical/Creative/Systems Thinking; Leading and Managing Change; Military Culture and Organizational Climate; Civil-Military Relations; Negotiation/Decision Making; Combat; Communication; and Ethics, Morals, and Values. This bibliography and others, compiled by USAWC research librarians, are available online through the Library's home page at http://www.carlisle.army.mil/library/bibliographies.htm.
