Environmental Assessment for the Proposed F/A-22 Maintenance Facilities, Hill AFB, Utah

Abstract

Under the proposed action, new facilities would be constructed to accommodate the F/A-22 workload of up to 54 aircraft per year. Included would be the construction of a nondestructive inspection (NDI) facility and the relocation of the existing FPS-117 radar tower. Under the no-action alternative, the proposed F/A-22 complex would not be constructed. The no-action would result in insufficient facilities to adequately sustain Hill AFB s F/A-22 mission. Based on the findings of this EA, construction of the F/A-22 maintenance hangar, NDI facility, and fire station, and relocation of the radar tower at Hill AFB are not expected to have any significant and unavoidable adverse environmental impacts. A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) statement was prepared.
