Next-Generation Image and Sound Processing Strategies: Exploiting the Biological Model
Abstract
Our overarching goal in this project is to extend the technical state-of-the-art in mid-level visual and auditory signal processing using an integrative biologically inspired approach. The work described in this progress report is a continuation of our efforts to (I) imitate biological sensory feature extraction methods, and (2) use those biologically-inspired sensory features to focus attention on the most important information in complex visual and auditory scenes.
