Understanding Radar Phenomenology of Relocatable Targets

Abstract

This briefing discusses the questions of 1) How do we recognise a target and 2) Which features identify a target. A SAR image is not an optical image but information about the target that is strongly affected by target geometry. Phenomenological analysis extracts information from a SAR target image by 1) describing physically the observed phenomena and 2) explaining the behaviour of the target versus configurations.
