Etude Exploratoire sur l'Etat de Stress Post-Traumatique dans Deux Unites Operationnelles de l'Armee de Terre (Exploratory Study of the Condition of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from Two Operational Units of Ground Forces)

Abstract

Duty in military environment, especially on field, is obviously an exposition risk factor to psychic traumatism. If Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has a very specific symptomology, it is not so easy to diagnose this syndrome because people don't talk easily about it for complex reasons. The aim of the study is to evaluate the frequency of PTSD in a military group from two units of the army and evaluate the interest for a brief screening prior to medical evaluation. This screening is discussed with the military general practitioner during the medical evaluation, to reinforce the opportunity to make the diagnosis of PTSD and eventually to deliver care.
