Abstract

This report describes firing with a 120 mm tank gun mounted in Conqueror tank, using A.P.D.S./T. lanoline-treated shot and H.E.S. shell. The information is under the following main headings: (i) Dispersion at ranges of 1,000 yds., and 2,000 yds. (ii) Effects of barrel wear on drop of H.E.S. and probability of hitting. (iii) Flash-back and after- burn. (iv) Effects of wind and drift on H.E.S. shell. (v) Gun life and loss of muzzle velocity.
