FeyRay Evaluation: 2007

Abstract

The capabilities of the FeyRay acoustic prediction model (version 1.12 Foreman 2007) are analyzed through comparison with the Navy Standard Parabolic Equation Model (NSPE), and the GRAB (Gaussian Ray Bundle eigenray propagation model) in a limited number of environments. Measurements of the relationship between GRAB and NSPE are designed to quantify the meaning of our FeyRay measurements in terms of another commonly used OAML model for Gaussian Beam propagation. The measurements reported here indicated that the accuracy and execution speed of FeyRay are sufficient to justify its use in high-fidelity training systems.
