Counterspace Operations

Abstract

This document is prepared by the United States Air Force to guide the application of counterspace operations, the ways and means by which the Air Force achieves and maintains space superiority. It provides greater depth to warfighting doctrine as articulated in AFDD 1 Air Force Doctrine, AFDD 2, Organization and Employment of Aerospace Forces, and AFDD 2-2, Space Operations. This AFDD applies to all active duty, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, and civilian Air Force personnel. The doctrine in this document is authoritative, but not directive. Therefore, commanders need to consider the contents of this AFDD and the particular situation when accomplishing their missions. Airmen should read it, discuss it, and practice it. SCOPE This doctrine expands upon Air Force basic beliefs and concepts on space operations doctrine, codifying beliefs, principles, and practices for the application of the counterspace function. It provides commanders, planners, and operators with considerations and advice on conducting counterspace operations with a variety of capabilities as part of a joint or coalition action. This doctrine establishes unclassified operational-level guidance for tactics, techniques, and procedures described in Air Force Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (AFTTP) and Air Force Operational Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (AFOTTP).
