New Primary Explosives Development for Medium Caliber Stab Detonators

Abstract

Final Report outlining an effort to replace lead azide used in stab detonators. Lead azide is an environmentally hazardous substance that is controlled by EPA regulations. A number or compounds were evaluated as a possible lead azide replacement and the test results are included in the report. In addition a reduced sensitivity silver azide was evaluated in M-59 stab detonator conriguration.
