S&T Impact on Urban and Counter-Insurgency Operations - A Medical Perspective

Abstract

The mission of the RDECOM-FAST Science and Technology Assistance Team, a joint unit from the U.S. Army Material Command and the U.S. Army Medical Research Command, is to: 1) Provide expert technical advice and support to commanders and their staff. 2) Query OIF operational units on Science & Technology capability gaps at the user level for both current and future Combat and SASO Operations. 3) Provide Operational Commanders immediate access to the development centers within RDECOM and USAMEDCOM. 4) Expedite technology solutions to the Warfighter and act as RDECOM/AMEDD forward element to evaluate solutions. This briefing discusses the command's response to challenges and issues raised by the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
