Night Vision Goggle Plate "Machine vs. Cast" Study

Abstract

The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) was requested to assist Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD) in performing a "Machine vs. Cast" study for the A3297308-1 plate (bracket), part of the A3297308 Front Bracket Assembly used on the ACH/CVC helmet Night Vision Goggle (NVG) kit, A3297037. LEAD has the capability to manufacture the plate using their existing equipment; however, there are several options that should be evaluated when selecting the best overall path considering part cost, capital requirements, shop capacity and volume of future orders.
