Results of a Continuous Transatlantic Two-Way Time Transfer Test Using Commercial Satellite Modems

Abstract

This paper is the second in a two-part series that introduces the concepts of two-way time transfer using commercial satellite modems. The first paper [l] presented the concept of time-based communication and detailed multiple implementations using satellite channels. This paper presents the results of a transatlantic proof-of-concept demonstration of the technology. A short review of time-based communications is presented, followed by a detailed description of the test. Results are presented and data examined for consistency over time and temperature.
