Brazil, A Potential World Power?

Abstract

Brazil is the fourth largest country in the world and, both geographically and demographically, makes up half of the South American Continent. She is of great strategic importance to the security of the United States. Potentially, Brazil is one of the richest nations in the world. The vast areas of undeveloped land and the great amounts of natural resources, coupled with her key location, make her an important ally of the West. Many authorities agree that Brazil is or soon will be the most powerful nation in Latin America, and, if the proper reforms are instituted, she will one day become a world power. Thus, it becomes apparent that the United States should assist in her economic development and maintain her as a friend and ally.
