A Networked Interactive Meteorological Modeling and Sensing System

Abstract

SUMMARY * A combined multi-model and sensor system can provide essential information on the state of the atmosphere and short term predictions for operations, CBNRE defense, and natural or man-made emergencies. * The system can serve as an R&D test-bed, a means for rapid testing of sensor or model prototypes, or as a local meteorological center. * The modular design allows the flexibility to handle the addition, subtraction, or replacement/upgrade of sensors, models, or other software with minimal disruption. * The technology for such a system exists today and will not require a technological breakthrough. However, it will require adequate resources to develop and maintain.
