U.S.-Thailand Relations: Analysis of U.S. Military Support to the Kingdom of Thailand

Abstract

This paper provides a critical analysis and assessment of the adequacy and appropriateness of the current U.S. military support to the Kingdom of Thailand in light of recent events. These events include an increase in global and regional Islamic extremism and terrorism, Thailand's military coup in September 2006, and Thailand's enduring efforts to address the violence and insurgency movement in its southern and predominantly Malay-Muslim provinces.
