Vapor-Phase Infrared Absorptivity Coefficient of 2-ChlorovinylDichloroarsine (LEWISITE)
Abstract
We measured the vapor-phase absorptivity coefficient of the vesicant chemical warfare agent 2-chlorovinyl dichloroarsine (Lewisite) in the mid-infrared (4000-550/cm) at a spectral resolution of 0.125/cm. The Lewisite used in the feedstock was purified by fractional distillation and analyzed by nuclear magnetic resonance to verify its purity. We describe the experimental method used to acquire the individual spectra that were used to produce the composite spectrum, summarize the statistical uncertainties in the data, and provide a comparison to similar data from another laboratory.
