Vraagstukken besmettingsbeheersing prio 3 (Questions Regarding Contamination Control, Priority 3)

Abstract

The GDS2000 delivery device is used for application of both simulant decontamination solution as well as for GDS2000. After use of this equipment, residual amounts of product can remain on or in the equipment. Furthermore the materials decontaminated with GD5 need to be cleaned as well. For both decontamination applications it needed to be investigated how the equipment or the decontaminated surface can be adequately cleaned afterwards. For the GDS2000 equipment adequate cleaning can be obtained by rinsing the vessel three times with a fresh aliquot water (1/4 of the vessel), with each time calmly moving the vessel from top to bottom during 10 seconds. For surfaces decontaminated with GD5 three times of 10 seconds rinsing with water proved to be adequate for smooth, inert surfaces. For adsorbing surfaces like linoleum or NBC clothing the GD5 proved to be removed much less efficient. Check with a pH paper (which changes color by the caustic GD5) will prove residual GD5 in an easy way.
