Job Oriented Training Handleiding voor Luchtdoelartillerie (Job Oriented Training: Instructors Manual Air Defense)

Abstract

This document provides an instructors manual for the application of Job Oriented Training in air defense classes. Job Oriented Training implies that, from day one, students are confronted with a series of realistic scenarios that gradually increase in complexity. There is no part-task training: from the very beginning the students perform the integral tasks; i.e. they first analyze their commander's order and the current situation and then create tactical plans. The virtual environment, in which the plans are executed, provides relevant feedback, thus making clear whether the tactics applied were effective or not. The scenarios are designed to elicit tactical mistakes and trigger discussion among the students, so they start understanding what both the analysis and planning process and the applied tactics mean in practice. As peers, they reflect upon the experiences encountered, resulting in a common understanding where their performance needs improvement.
