Network Timing Equipment for Synchronous Digital Telecommunication

Abstract

A new equipment for digital communication networks has been developed which fully meets requirements for input jitter and high redundancy. Three temperature controlled quartz oscillators using BVA crystals are locked by digital servo loops to three reference lines operating at the network frequency. Microprocessor control and majority logic extend the mean time between failure to an estimated 60 years.
