Posteriori Estimation of Low Altitude Propagation Loss From Radar Sea Clutter Data

Abstract

This paper describes the estimation of propagation loss and it statistical properties based on observations of radar sea clutter data. This problem is solved by first finding an ensemble (about 100000 models) of relevant refractivity model parameters and then using all these models to map into the propagation loss domain. In this mapping each refractivity model is weighted according to its data likelihood function.
