Abstract
This issue of The Coast Artillery Journal contains the following articles: "Coast Artillery Shooting," by Major R. B. Colton, C.A.C.; "Relations of Land and Sea Power," by Colonel S. C. Vestal, C.A.C. (Colonel Vestal considers this subject under two hypotheses: the first, where the superior land power is inferior on the sea; and the second, where the superior land power is superior on the sea. This article deals with the first of these conditions. The second will be published in a later issue of the Journal.); "With the Siberian A.E.F.," by Major L. L. Pendleton, C.A.C.; and "Notes on Artillery in War," by Colonel A. Mayoux, French Army. The remainder of the issue contains the following features: editorials on the role of aircraft in warfare, summer training camps, and a universal deflection board; Professional notes on principles of organization, artillery ordnance development, fleet air arm control, the Japanese Army (history, doctrine, esprit de corps, and organization), National Match Teams for 1925, an R.O.T.C. demonstration at the University of California, Coast Artillery Memorandum No. 5, troubles of a Post Commander in 1821, the other side of a soldier's life, wet storage of smokeless powder, and selection of Battery Noncommissioned Officers; Military notes on Great Britain, Spain, Czechoslovakia, Russia, Japan, and Turkey; Coast Artillery Board notes; and book reviews.
