USN/USMC Commander's Quick Reference Handbook for Legal Issues, 2009

Abstract

This document contains 13 sections, with the 13th being Appendices. The sections are as follows: 1) Military Justice; 2) Nonjudicial Punishment; 3) JAGMAN Investigations; 4) Administrative Separations 5) Personnel Issues; 6) Sexual Harassment, Fraternization & Hazing; 7) Correspondence Issues; Freedom of Expression and Grievance Procedures; 8) Interactions with Civilians; 9) Outside CONUS; 10) Legal Assistance; 11) Family Relationship Issues; 12) Ethics; and 13) Appendices. Each section is further broken down by topics. Each topic begins with a list of relevant reference materials and instructions such as the Manual for Court-Martial (RCM 303) and instructions. Each topic then contains a distillation of the legal high points such as the right of members being investigated for offenses to be consulted as to their right to a lawyer (Miranda Rights) and against self-incrimination.
