Multi-Variant/Capability Next Generation Troop Seat (M-V/C NGTS)

Abstract

This Final Report documents the SBIR Phase I efforts that established concept feasibility of the Multi-Variant/Capability Next Generation Troop Seat (M-V/C NGTS). The M-V/C NGTS comprised three variants. Each of these variants specifically addressed, at the lightest weight possible, the three established performance criterions. The recent implementation of crashworthy troop seats over the last decade has identified that weight is the critical issue in their employment. By providing three variants the implementer will be able to choose the best solution for their application and not be limited by the weight constraint of a single solution. These SBIR Phase I efforts developed and fabricated three new variants of the NGTS that were significantly lighter and cheaper than the existing state-of-the-art.
