Advanced Energetic Materials for Agent Defeat: Impact-Driven Reactions in Biocidal Reactive Materials for WMD Applications

Abstract

Dynamic thermite reactions can produce iodine or silver gas, which may destroy spore-forming bacteria. Initial experiments have demonstrated reaction rates up to 1300 m/s and fireballs exceeding 1000 C.
