Cost and Performance Report for a Zero Valent Iron (ZVI) Treatability Study at Naval Air Station North Island

Abstract

A zero-valent iron (ZVI) pilot treatability study was conducted for the treatment of chlorinated organics (primarily trichlorothylene) in groundwater at Operable Unit 20 at Naval Air Station North Island in 2006. From August 22, 2006 through September 7, 2006, Ferox injection (pressurized injection of water and ZVI powder slurry) was implemented at five locations, between approximately 30 and 60 ft below ground surface. This report summarized the cost and performance data from this treatability study.
