Notes on the Genus Uranotaenia

Abstract

Postspiracular setae in the genus Uranotaenia are reported for the first time; a hitherto unnumbered pupal seta is added to the chaetotaxy; an anomolous female specimen with two spermathecae is reported. While examining specimens from various parts of the world, a number of unusual or little known characters were observed. These will be briefly treated in a later paper on the Uranotaenia of Southeast Asia, However, the likelihood of such observations going unnoticed in a restricted regional treatment has prompted me to present a separate report on at least three of these.
