Prediction of Formation of Amorphous Alloys During Annealing of Ti-binary Alloys and Validation of the Same

Abstract

Observation of an amorphous phase produced on annealing has excited scientists since the process can be easily controlled leading to bulk amorphous alloys that can find several technological applications. However, this phenomenon has to be explored further and understood in order to exploit it. It is important to understand the thermodynamics of this unusual phase transformation. This can lead to a better understanding of the fundamental aspects of this process. This can further open up new avenues of research also. Hence, the present investigation was carried out to model the thermodynamics of the phenomenon of this inverse melting in Ti-binary alloys and validate the same.
