The Subgenus Stegomyia of Aedes in the Afrotropical Region. 2. The Dendrophilus Group of Species (Diptera: Culicidae) (Contributions of the American Entomological Institute. Volume 29, Number 4, 1997)

Abstract

The dendrophilus group of the subgenus Stegomyia Theobald, genus Aedes Meigen, is characterized and diagnosed. Keys to the identification of species are provided. Information on the present status of the dendrophilus group of species is summarized. Four new species: Aedes hansfordi, muroafcete, njombiensis and segermanae are recognized. One subspecies, kenyae van Someren is elevated to specific status. A lectotype is designated for Aedes deboeri Edwards.
