Industry Study, Environment Industry, Spring 2009

Abstract

The environment industry merits recognition as a key industry for the United States. Environmental degradation, the depletion of natural resources, and the social, economic and political problems associated with climate change combine to pose major challenges for the world community and for the future prosperity and security of the United States. They also offer substantial growth potential for the environment industry. The United States needs to improve its environmental performance, make binding reductions in emissions and take a leading role in an international effort to address climate change.
