Compact Environmental Anomaly Sensor (CEASE): Geometric Factors

Abstract

A previously published technical report [AFRL-VS-HA-TR-2006-1030] was the first in a series by AFRL to document the performance of the Compact Environmental Anomaly Sensor (CEASE). That report includes (1) a definition of the response function and its relation to the geometric factor; (2) a description of the Monte Carlo simulations that were performed to determine the proton and electron response functions for the telescope and dosimeters; and (3) the resulting response functions and a comparison with experimental calibration results. This report details how these response functions are used to estimate a set of geometric factors for a set of integral flux channels derived for both the telescope and dosimeters.
