Ontology Translation Protocol (Ontrapro): Automated Ontology Alignment

Abstract

Semantic integration is needed when different information systems have different formal descriptions of the same type of data. Semantic Integration is also a key challenge of the Semantic Web. ATL's Ontology Translation Protocol [Ontrapro] prototype tool automatically discovers semantic correspondences between elements in heterogeneous data models. Ontrapro is designed to work in concert with together data integration technologies to encode the data transformations required for information resource interoperability. Ontrapro provides the 'semantic glue' needed to generate translations between sources efficiently and effectively.
