On Leadership

Abstract

On 8 April of this year, the nation was saddened by the death of General of the Army Omar N. Bradley, its great World War II troop leader and only surviving five-star officer. It is fitting to recall here General Bradley's thoughts on the subject of leadership as expressed to the staff and faculty of the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks on 8 October 1971. This article is an edited version of one titled "Leadership" that originally appeared in Parameters: Journal of the U.S. Army War College, Volume 1, Winter 1972, pp. 2-8.
