Explosive Hazard Reduction

Abstract

The objective of Explosive Hazard Reduction (EHR) is to reduce the Maximum Credible Event (MCE) should an inadvertent detonation with munitions occur. MCE is defined by the DOD as the worst single event likely to occur from a given quantity of munitions or explosives. This is being achieved by development of technologies and procedures, and by applying both new and existing technologies and procedures through site/explosives hazard reduction planning practices. The result will be improved survivability, sustainablility, and operability of US air bases and Contingency Operating Locations (COLs).
