AAFES Shopping Center Environmental Assessment

Abstract

An environmental assessment (EA) prepared for construction of a new AAFES Shopping Center on Malmstrom Air Force Base resulting in a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). The EA analyzed the potential environmental impacts of constructing a 40,300-square foot shopping center that would combine the services found in the existing Base Exchange and gas station into a single facility. The AAFES Shopping Center would include a main exchange, a Shopette/Class VI store, A Charley's Steakery, three retail concessions, 160 parking spaces for customers, and an additional 30 parking spaces for employees at the rear of the building. In addition, the Shopping Center would feature four multi-product gasoline dispensers underneath a canopy roofing system.
