C-MIST: An Automated Oceanographic Data Processing Software Suite

Abstract

We introduce an enterprise software suite to automate the processing of large-scale, large-volume current meter data for dissemination to the nation's maritime community. Currents Measurement Interface for the Study of Tides (C-MIST) is a web-based end-to-end state-of-the-art data management system to ingest, quality control, analyze, and disseminate water velocity and related data from coastal and estuarine collections. Using real-world case studies from Southeast Alaska and Galveston Bay we demonstrate how the various modules of the system allow oceanographers to apply their expertise in analyzing complex data to research natural phenomena.
