Design of a Subsurface Moored Acoustic Array in Deep Water

Abstract

The South TOTO Acoustic Measurement Facility (STAFAC) is currently under development at the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) to become the NAVY's subsurface moored East coast acoustic signature measurement facility. This paper discusses the mechanical design of the subsurface mooring system to support vertical acoustic arrays.
