MSTWG Multistatic Tracker Evaluation Using Simulated Scenario Data Sets

Abstract

The Multistatic Tracking Working Group (MSTWG) was formed in 2005 by an international group of researchers interested in developing and improving tracking capabilities when applied to multistatic sonar and radar problems. The MSTWG developed several simulated multistatic sonar scenario data sets for use in tracker evaluation by the group's participants. A common set of performance metrics was also agreed, to enable tracker algorithm comparison and evaluation. Previous conference special sessions of the MSTWG have reported individual algorithm performance on these data sets. In this paper, the various results are consolidated in order to make a first attempt at performance crosscomparisons. The data sets are reviewed and performance results are presented. Issues with various performance metrics are explained.
