Marine Towed Array Technology Demonstration Blossom Point Research Facility

Abstract

This demonstration was conducted at the Blossom Point Research Facility of the Army Research Laboratory in cooperation with the ESTCP Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Innovative Technology Transfer Program. It is part of a larger overall evaluation of the Blossom Point facility current and former ranges being carried out under the U.S. Army Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP). An SI has been completed and an EE/CA study is currently underway which involves both the onshore and offshore ranges. The objective of the MTA demonstration at the Blossom Point Research Facility is to characterize the former offshore ranges associated with the facility, particularly those in the Potomac River. The MTA demonstration is specifically supported by the ESTCP Program Office under Project MM2003-24 and there are specific technology evaluations that will be made using the MTA platform that relate to its capabilities and adaptability to undertake new and different survey challenges.
