Transforming Warfare with Effects-Based Joint Operations

Abstract

What used to be science fiction is becoming reality. Command, control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C2ISR) technology has so progressed that it may soon be possible to direct warfare in real time from or through C2ISR platforms. Colonel Bingham introduces such a concept of effects-based joint operations that would give commanders in chief unprecedented control of the battle space and enable realistic training of command and battle staffs via something called advanced distributed simulation.
