Support for High Power Laser Ablation 2010
Abstract
The 8th meeting of the International Symposium on High Power Laser Ablation was held in Santa Fe NM 18 -22 April 2010. This report describes the conference in detail and includes the book of abstracts. AFOSR partially supported the conference. Eighteen countries were represented; 51 oral papers and 44 poster papers were presented in 14 sessions. Sessions covered laser-matter interaction physics and modeling, short-pulse laser-matter interactions, nanoprocessing and engineering of materials, laser propulsion, plume dynamics, alkali halide, optically pumped and oxygen-iodine lasers, space applications and PLD, MAPLE and processing of advanced materials. A unique panel session on the topic "What are the issues we should be putting more effort on in terms of understanding and/or overcoming technological roadblocks" was held.
