Australia: US Redoubt in Southeast Asia

Abstract

This research paper concerns itself with contemporary Australia. It is an attempt to determine the present and future strategic importance of Australia to the United States through an analysis of the geopolitical, economic, and military factors affecting her position in the South Pacific. In accomplishing this, emphasis will be placed on the external pressures exerted on Australia by her neighbors to the North.
