Item Unique Identification (IUID) Marking for a Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class Mission Module (MM) at the Mission Package Support Facility (MPSF): Implementation Analysis and Development of Optimal Marking Procedures

Abstract

The purpose of this MBA project is to implement an effective solution to the DoD's mandatory January 2004 IUID policy for LCS MPs at the Port Hueneme MPSF. Our methodology was to analyze the item marking process to determine the optimal marking procedure for items that bypassed the MPSF. Logical Decisions for Windows was utilized to determine the best course of action with regard to cost, crew burden, compliance achievement, and reduced mistakes. It was determined that, among five possible courses of action, waiting for a maintenance availability was the optimal solution.
