Fundamentals of Radiation Physics

Abstract

The Scientific Medical Effects of Ionizing Radiation Course, conducted once a year, focuses on the latest research about the medical effects of ionizing radiation to help clinicians, health physicists, and medical planners preserve troop health in the face of radiological/nuclear terrorism or warfare. These briefing charts define ionizing radiation, describe sources of ionizing radiation, describe interaction of ionizing radiation with matter at microscopic level, and describe interaction of ionizing radiation with matter at macroscopic level.
